Simple! It all comes full circle! Our well being is not an isolated entity. Obesity and Midlife Changes can affect all facets of our physical, sexual, emotional, social and mental Health.

  • In the Unites States It is estimated that every year over 1 million women will go through menopause (no periods in a 12 month period). The average age of menopause is 51 years of age.

  • Perimenopause, or the menopause transition, can last several years before menopause sets in. Most women will start to experience symptoms in the mid 40’s.

  • Symptoms can vary and can be vague. Metabolic changes, irregular periods, hot flashes, mood swings, sleep disturbances, joint pain and decrease libido are common during both perimenopause and menopause.

The obesity epidemic and it’s consequences have reached new scary heights. It has has been recognized as:

  • A disease of body weight regulation

  • A major contributor to over 40% of all cancers in the USA.

  • The most common underlying and preventable condition that directly affects all systems in our bodies ( cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, immunological, endocrine and reproductive just to name a few ).

  • The strongest factor directly link to earlier death.

My Story

I am a physician, but I am also a woman going through midlife changes. I have been a patient, multiple times.

Throughout my life I have struggled with a few medical conundrums, specially my weight! I have tried all the diets known to mankind. Only finding my self on the eternal yo-yo weight loss and regain. It wasn’t until decided to take the long road towards understanding and healing my relationship with food that I started to overcome my weight issues. I was lucky to find a colleague who took me on as a patient. She helped me understand and navigate through the eternal yo-yo dieting and perimenopause fog that was taking over me. The fog was thick. She inspired me to start this practice so that I can help others !

When I am not delivering babies I like to cook, spend time with my dog, travel, workout and go dancing. I speak english and Spanish. I am Originally from Puerto Rico and have lived in Santo Domingo, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Denver, Spokane and now I am happy to call Seattle my new home!
